The ORASECOM Communications Strategy 2010-2012
Water is playing an increasingly important role globally. It is therefore that institutions and organisations dealing with water and water management should aim at increasing public awareness of the importance of water, and ensure that decreasing water resources are shared equitably, reasonably and sustainably. Communication must form an important part of this process. Communications is also important to establish a credible organisation and to facilitate interaction with all stakeholders, in order to help the organisation realise its mandate. The ORASECOM Communications Strategy recommends four overall objectives:
- Overall Objective 1: Stakeholders in the Basin States are better informed about ORASECOM, its institutional set-up, mandate and functioning
- Overall Objective 2: ORASECOM profiles itself as a professional transboundary water resources management organisation at the national, regional and international level
- Overall Objective 3: ORASECOM shares experiences and best practices with relevant institutions
- Overall Objective 4: ORASECOM communicates to stakeholders and target audiences how the organisation’s actions contribute
