Economic Accounting of Water Use in the SADC Region
The project is aimed at addressing a gap in the region regarding appropriate valuation of its water resources. The project will help Member States to undertake economic accounting of their water use. Standardized methodologies for constructing water accounts will be developed and pilot water use accounts will be developed for four selected Member States and two river basins. As part of the implementation, capacity will be built in member states and river basins so that at post-project situation, there will be a pool of trained personnel to compile up-to-date water accounts. Training programmes for this purpose will also be developed.
