The project is intended to assess the capacity for flood forecasting and early warning in the countries in the Zambezi River Basin and particularly in the Zambezi Basin area and formulate a consensus strategy. Current WMO activities including the Flood Forecasting Initiative, the Regional Flash Flood Guidance System – Southern Africa component (SARFFG System), SADC-HYCOS and other SADC projects including ZACPRO 6.2 will complement the project objectives.
